S ince its establishment in 1948, Singapore Fruits and Vegetables Importers and Exporters Association
(SFVIEA) has always played an active and important role in the development of Singapore’s fruit and vegetable industry, by stabilizing prices, maintaining the stability of supply, and diversifying varieties of fruits and vegetables. SFVIEA is committed to supporting and promoting the development of Singapore’s fruit and vegetable industry. At the same time, SFVIEA also acts as a bridge between members and government departments and commercial organizations to maintain friendly relations among all parties.
SFVIEA enables its members to improve their business through various activities. It helps members understand the latest developments in the fruit and vegetable market and also looks for overseas business opportunities to find food sources. SFVIEA has hosted many foreign delegates and gained an in-depth knowledge of various countries’ agricultural prospects and trade conditions. This has also made it easier for members to establish networks with overseas business partners. Through these initiatives, SFVIEA has played an important part in promoting economic and trade cooperation between members and industry players around the world.

fresh fruit and vegetable supply channels to provide Singapore with diversified, high- quality choices. So far, it has established close partnerships with fruit and vegetable suppliers in more than 50 countries and regions around the world.
In 2019, Singapore imported 78 354 tonnes of leafy vegetables which is equivalent to 16kg per capita consumption and 456 985 tonnes of non-leafy vegetables, equivalent to 79kg per capita consumption. Singapore imported 428 869 tonnes of fruits, amounting to 71kg per capita consumption.
SFVIEA has always maintained close and good relationships with government agencies such as Singapore Food Authority (SFA) to ensure the safety of fruit and vegetable supplies in Singapore and to identify and respond to challenges in the supply; formulate diversified strategies, strengthen existing sources of imports, and to identify and develop new potential sources.
In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and the new challenges brought about by Singapore’s economic transformation, SFVIEA will strive to unite its members to deal with the situation positively.
Going forward, SFVIEA will continue to play an active role to create a better future for the development of the fruit and vegetable industry.
