he Meat Traders Association (MTA) is proud to contribute towards a safe and resilient food supply for Singapore with the encouragement, support and guidance from our Honorary Advisor Mayor Low Yen Ling, the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA), Enterprise Singapore, the Standards, Productivity and Innovation Board (SPRING Singapore), as well as other stakeholders.
The MTA was formed in 2011. We have 60 members comprising mainly of meat importers and local meat traders. We continue to form international business alliances and develop our import and export network and international trading capabilities in collaboration with foreign government agencies, foreign trade associations, and other stakeholders as well.
We face many challenges to our food safety and food security including disruption to supplies due to natural disasters, animal diseases, logistics and other changes in the global trading environment. MTA members face an increasingly challenging business environment, especially against competition from bigger and very
well-financed global entities.
As MTA continues to work together as a family to face the various challenges, we look forward to continuing support from the AVA, Enterprise Singapore and other stakeholders in order to help ensure a safe and resilient food supply for Singapore.
We wish all in the Singapore agri-food business community another successful year ahead.
