he Meat Traders Association is proud to contribute towards a safe and resilient food supply to Singapore with the encouragement, support, and guidance from our Honorary Advisor Mayor Low Yen Ling, Singapore Food Authority (SFA), Enterprise Singapore (ESG), as well as other stakeholders.
The Meat Traders Association (MTA) was formed in 2001. We have 80 members comprising mainly of meat importers and local meat traders. We work together to improve the food resilience and security of Singapore through collaborations with various government entities and international associations. Most recently we have arranged webinars with meat exporters from Australia, Belgium, France, Mexico, Poland and USA, to further expand our international import and export networks.
Over the past year we have faced multiple challenges from the COVID-19 situation as well as ongoing threats from the avian flu and ASF. While the vaccination rollouts provide some brief respite, there are yet more challenges to face, such as the shortage of manpower and coldroom storage.
While all of these issues have made it a difficult year for our industry, MTA continues to work closely with SFA, ESG, and other associations and foreign agencies to resolve them and build a better and more stable future for Singapore’s food supply. We will continue to strive forward even as we celebrate 20 years of progress in our upcoming 20th Anniversary on 14th December this year.
We wish all in the Singapore Agri-Food Business community another successful year ahead.
President, Meat Traders Association Singapore
