S ince its establishment in 1948, the Singapore Fruit and Vegetable Import and Export Association (SFVIEA) has
played an active and important role in the fruit and vegetable industry in Singapore and contributed has to the stability supply of fruits and vegetables.
Local farmers supply only 12% of leafy vegetables consumed in Singapore to ensure consumers have bounteous quality fruits and vegetables at affordable prices. Singapore imports over 90% of our fruits and vegetables from more than 50 countries around the world. Members of SFVIEA constantly strive to raise the bar in seeking reliable fruit and vegetable sources.
In Singapore, the per capita consumption in 2017 for vegetables (leafy and non-leafy) was 95 kg, and 70 kg for fruits. To ful l these, about 525,686 tonnes of vegetables and 422,103 tonnes of fruits were imported at estimated market values of about S$625 million for vegetables and S$688 million for fruits.

The SFVIEA plays an important role in bridging between the members, government agencies and commercial organisations.
The SFVIEA has always worked very closely with the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) to ensure food safety, overcome industry challenges, and develop new potential sources.
Going forward, the SFVIEA strives to constantly play an active role in enhancing members’ relationship and create a better future for the development of the fruit and vegetable industry in Singapore.
The SFVIEA once again expresses heartfelt thanks to the AVA for its unwavering support and guidance. We wish the publication of the 2019 edition of the Singapore Agri-Food Business Directory all the success.
