The year 2018 was an interesting and meaningful one for the Floriculture Association (Singapore) FAS. In May,
FAS participated in the Goyang International Flower Festival in South Korea. A landscape booth featuring Singapore’s most iconic landmarks, Merlion and the Marina Bay Sands which was decorated by FAS members and displayed in GIFF. FAS has also of cially signed a MOU with the Council Asia Flower Exhibition (CAFE)to be a council member.
CAFE was established by South Korea to promote the excellence of Asian ower exhibition by holding joint exhibitions and events and to increase tourism in the country.
Today CAFE consists of 10 Asian countries: South Korea, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan, Bhutan and Singapore (FAS).
“Awaken The Force” FAS members participated in this wonderful event in June led by His Holiness The Gyalwang Drukpa, Drukpa Singapore. It showcased unique oral
arrangements using recycled materials like wine bottles, corn husks and straws. We would also like to extend our thanks to Drukpa Singapore for inviting us to showcase in this event. In addition to this, the FAS has conducted numerous workshops featuring overseas oral designers from Malaysia, South Korea and San Francisco.
Likewise, Tropifame Flora and Tropifame Floral Design School Pte Ltd have been actively engaged in oral courses and workshops for public and private schools in Singapore. The FAS is grateful to be the supporting association for Tropifame.
Finally, without a doubt we must thank the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore for the screening and checks conducted on our foods, as well as animals and plants coming into Singapore. We would also like to use this opportunity to thank all our members for their continuous support and efforts given to the FAS. We will continue to support oral interests locally and overseas.
